US military usmc desert combat digital desert insect guard FROG shirt.
The shirt is part of the Marine Corps Combat Utility Uniform (MCCUU) family in the Desert MARPAT camo pattern — tan/sand/brown digital camouflage (the desert version of MARPAT).
• The insect guard version means it is treated with a permethrin-based treatment (or equivalent) to repel insects. Often labeled “Permethrin” or “Perimeter Insect Guard.”
• Official issue (or authorized) garments are made to military specs, so many features are functional and rugged rather than decorative.
⸻
Materials & Fabric Treatment
• Fabric: a blend, typically 50% cotton / 50% nylon twill (often called “NyCo twill”) is used for durability and comfort.
• Insect treatment: the blouse is impregnated with permethrin or an insecticide finish. This establishes the “insect guard” capability.
• The treatment remains effective for a number of launderings. One source claims 25 washes.
• Infrared/IR signature considerations: The camo is designed to be IR-safe (i.e. minimize detection under IR illumination) as part of the uniform system.
• Reinforcements: key areas like elbows are reinforced, sometimes double-layered.
All shirts new and Like new without hang tag.
